Sun Damage and Your Skin

Most people think of sun damage as a sunburn. Red skin, some peeling, a few days of discomfort and then it's over. But the damage that matters most isn't the kind you feel in the moment. It's the kind that builds quietly over years and shows up decades later.
Here's what's actually happening and what you can do about it.
What UV exposure does to your skin over time
Your skin has two layers that matter here. The epidermis is the surface layer, the one you can see and touch. Underneath it is the dermis, where collagen and elastin live. These are the proteins that keep skin firm, resilient, and able to bounce back.
UV radiation damages both layers. At the surface, it disrupts pigmentation, leading to uneven tone, dark spots, and dullness. In the dermis, it breaks down collagen and elastin over time. That breakdown is what causes skin to lose its firmness, its texture, and its ability to hold hydration.
This is called photoaging. It's responsible for the majority of visible skin aging in most adults. The lines, the laxity, the skin that stopped looking awake even when you feel fine, a significant portion of that is cumulative UV damage, not just the passage of time.
Why your routine stops working
If you've been doing everything right and your skin still looks off, this is often why. Topical products work at the surface. They can hydrate, brighten, and support the skin's barrier. But they can't rebuild what UV damage has broken down in the dermis. That requires treatment that gets into the skin, not just onto it.
What actually reverses sun damage
There is no single fix.
Reversal happens in layers, the same way damage accumulates in layers. A consistent facial series addresses the surface.
Treatments like the Hydrofacial and SaltFacial work to clear dead skin cells, improve texture, stimulate circulation, and support the skin's ability to absorb and retain moisture. One facial gives you immediate brightness. A series changes how your skin functions over time.
For deeper repair, bio-revitalizing injectables like VAMP address what facials can't. VAMP delivers PDRN, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals directly into the dermis. PDRN, derived from wild salmon DNA and purified to medical grade, is clinically proven to stimulate collagen production and support cellular repair. It helps restore what UV damage has taken from the deeper layers of your skin.
Daily SPF is non-negotiable throughout. You cannot repair damage in a treatment room and undo it in the parking lot. Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, worn every day, is the foundation everything else builds on.
