Laser Hair Removal for Men

Let's be honest. Shaving your back is not a reasonable long-term solution. It requires either a very patient partner, a very awkward mirror setup, or a back shaver you found on the internet at 11pm that you're not entirely sure works.

Waxing is better. But it's also every few weeks, forever. Laser hair removal is the version of this where you do a series of sessions and then largely stop thinking about it.

Here's how it actually works.

Laser Hair Removal 101

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target the pigment in hair follicles. The heat damages the follicle's ability to regrow hair without affecting the surrounding skin. Your body does the rest.

Because hair grows in cycles, not all follicles are active at the same time. That's why you need a series of sessions. Each one catches a new round of follicles in the active growth phase. Most clients need six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. After completing a full series, most see 70–90% permanent hair reduction.

Permanent. As in, it doesn't grow back.

Back and Shoulders Specifically

The back is one of the most requested areas for men and one of the most satisfying to treat, because the surface area is significant and the results are immediately noticeable.

Sessions for the back take longer than smaller areas, typically 30–45 minutes, but there's no downtime. You can go back to your day immediately after.

Shoulders pair naturally with back treatment. Most clients do both together. If you add shoulders as a second area, that qualifies as an add-on (which this month means 30% off).

What the Appointment is Like

You'll come in for a consultation first. Your provider will assess your skin tone and hair color, confirm you're a good candidate, and calibrate the laser settings specifically to you.

The treatment itself feels like a rubber band snap or mild warmth noticeable, not unbearable. Mild redness for a few hours afterward is normal. That's about it.

When is a Good Time to Start

Laser hair removal and direct sun exposure don't mix well during the treatment series. Treated areas need to stay out of the sun between sessions, and you'll want to avoid tanning. Spring is the easiest time to manage that before summer plans involve taking your shirt off at a lake every other weekend.

Start now. The results will be there when you need them.

What to Expect After a Full Series

Significantly less hair. What does grow back and some will, in some follicles tends to be finer and lighter than before. Most clients do a maintenance session once a year or less. Some stop entirely.

Either way, it's considerably less maintenance than the back shaver.
