What to Know Before Your First Filler Appointment

If your first filler appointment is coming up, a little prep goes a long way. None of it is complicated, but a few small choices in the days before make the experience smoother and the results easier to love.

Here is what we tell every first-timer.
Give yourself the best shot at minimal bruising.
In the few days before, it helps to ease off things that thin the blood, like fish oil, high-dose vitamin E, ibuprofen, and alcohol. One important caveat: never stop a medication your doctor prescribed without checking with them first. When in doubt, ask us and ask your physician, and we will work around whatever you need to keep taking.
Mind the calendar.
Mild swelling or a little bruising can show for a few days, and filler keeps settling over the following one to two weeks. So if you have a wedding, a vacation, or a big photo day coming up, book your appointment at least two weeks ahead. That gives everything time to integrate and look its most natural before the moment that matters.
Come with your goals, and tell me everything.
You do not need the right vocabulary. Just tell me what bothers you when you look in the mirror and we will translate it into a plan. Be upfront about your history too, including any past cold sores, allergies, and the medications and supplements you take. That information is what lets me choose the safest product and approach for you, not a formality.
Be patient with the mirror afterward.
Right after your appointment you may see some swelling, and the first 48 hours are not the time to judge your final look. The result settles over one to two weeks, and small touch-ups are a normal, planned part of the process. We would rather build gradually and keep it natural than overdo it on day one.
If you have been waiting for the right time to start, filler is $150 off each syringe through July, and a consult is the best first step.
